Must be able to work 1 consecutive shift per week. Scheduled work times can range between 4:30 AM - 10:30 PM 7 days a week. Supervise the conduct of patrons to prevent and/or correct unsafe conditions and behavior. Strictly and tactfully enforce rules, regulations, policies, and ordinances governing the conduct of patrons using the facility. Respond to accidents or situations in or out of the water and provide first aid, CPR, and other assistance as necessary. Participate in the record keeping of accidents, rescues, and water chemistry. Help keep the Lorin Farr Pool Facility clean and uncluttered. Help maintain pool areas by putting in/taking out ropes, cleaning decks, and removing all unnecessary equipment from the pool areas. Report unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Assume responsibility for maintaining positive relations with patrons. Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be dressed in proper uniform. Assist and support patrons in a positive and productive manner. Respond to questions and/or concerns of patrons in a prompt professional fashion. Handle rule violators tactfully and respectfully. Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relations with personnel and management.Attend all staff meetings and in-service training sessions. Assist other lifeguards and area personnel as necessary. Stay aware of the other lifeguard chairs and areas of responsibility. Provide input for Aquatic area planning. Discuss areas of concern with appropriate personnel. Other duties as assigned.Head Lifeguard additional functions: Variety of close to immediate supervision to the lifeguards. Ensure and assist lifeguards in properly providing safety in the facility and impart on-deck supervision of all pools by walking around the facility and scanning pool and deck situations. Assure that staff members are correctly completing their duties.WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to lift a person off the bottom and out of the water (average weight 150 lbs).Ability to push, pull, or lift 20 pounds (frequently), 50 pounds (occasionally), and 150+ pounds (rarely).Perform all physical skills required for lifeguard, first aid, and CPR certifications and in-service trainings.Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time in varying outside air temperatures and climate conditions.Must have sufficient hearing to perform the duties of the job.While performing duties of this job, employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, jump, stoop, kneel, or crouch.Ability to safely climb to, and quickly exit, from heights up to 8 feet.Ability to walk, run, jump, or stand on uneven terrain.Work involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks associated with responding to aquatic emergencies.Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, chemicals, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECKSuccessful applicant must pass background check.
