Lifeguard Position at Bay Harbor Yacht Club

Join us as a Lifeguard at Bay Harbor Yacht Club, where you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our members and guests. This position involves maintaining a vigilant watch over the pool and beach areas, responding to emergencies, and enforcing safety protocols. Ideal candidates will have lifeguarding experience, CPR/First Aid training, and strong communication skills. We are looking for full-time and part-time Lifeguards with an estimated start date of June 1st. Shifts are generally either 10 AM - 6 PM or Noon to 8 PM but we can be flexible around your schedule!

Bay Harbor Yacht Club, a private club located near Petoskey, MI, provides breathtaking views and exceptional service for both guests and members year-round. BHYC boasts several exquisite restaurants, multiple recreational outlets, and large event spaces, all situated on the Bay Harbor marina. We recently completed a multi-million-dollar renovation which included expanded summer seasonal dining, a new Grille Room, State of the Art Fitness Center, Aquatics Center and a Relaxation Spa!

Job Duties
  • Greet and acknowledge members and guests
  • Log name of members and guests that enter pool or beach
  • Maintain continuous surveillance of people in swimming pool or beach
  • Ensure appropriate headcount of people involved in pool or beach on hourly basis
  • Call out warnings to people who venture too far in the water or are in imminent danger
  • Determine safety risks and potential hazards to take measures to prevent accidents
  • Control and report unruly behavior and evict individuals not adhering to behavior protocols
  • Determine safety risks at regular checks throughout shift
  • Perform CPR and first aid according to demands of adverse situations
  • Perform water rescues as necessary
  • Assist with cleaning of the beach and pool areas, including refreshing bathrooms, cleaning up trash, and other duties as assigned
  • Communicate with other department members and supervisors/managers on any emergencies/safety risks
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years experience in lifeguard field or related areas preferred
  • High School Diploma preferred
  • CPR/First Aid Training Certificate required
  • Lifeguard Training Certificate required
  • Ability to perform in emergency situations
  • Must be able to swim
  • Must be able to work some weekends, evenings and/or holidays
