Job description

Bailiwick is seeking a Lifeguard! Qualified candidates will thrive in a hospitality environment and be highly focused on providing superior service. Bailiwick Club in Greenwich, CT has summer positions available for Lifeguards. Minimum 20 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week. Lifeguard certification is required when applying.
General Purpose:
A lifeguard's job is to keep people safe in or around the pool. This is done by actively surveilling the pool and the surrounding area. The lifeguard will be responsible for keeping the area safe by enforcing the club's water safety policies and procedures. Minimum 20 hours per week, up to 40 hours per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
  • Active surveillance of the pool to prevent accidents and/ or injuries.
  • Be prepared to take action if necessary.
  • Enforces all pool-related rules set by Bailiwick club
  • Administers first aid as trained by American Red Cross

Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Performs pool maintenance: To include, but not limited to, checking chemicals, skimming the pool, empty filter basket, and pool vacuuming, follow maintenance schedule as indicated on a daily basis
  • Straightens the pool area throughout the day. Including setting up safety equipment, righting umbrellas, and wiping down chairs, picking up towels and garbage.
  • Organizes and monitors pool games as needed; organizes pool-side games/activities. Participates in the games
  • Checks the first aid supplies and reports needed items to management in a timely fashion.
  • Maintains all necessary records determined by the department manager, including incident and accident reports
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • Be 15 years old or older
  • Prefers work-related experience.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Flexible schedule.

Physical Demands:
Has met the requirements of American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course.
Frequently uses hands, talks, and hears. Regularly stands and sits. Occasionally walks, reaches with hands and arms, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls, tastes or smells. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
Environment/Noise:
Works in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather); near fumes or airborne particles, and near toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level is moderate.
Certificates/Licenses:
Valid American Red Cross, Lifeguard Certificate, CPR Pro. Lifeguard certification must be submitted with the application.
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g., the associates may be required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
