Elgin Country Club is now hiring through early summer certified lifeguards with experience to join our Lifeguard Crew for the 2026 Pool Season.


Do you like working outdoors, being around the water, being a part of a fun team, and working with families and children? If this sounds like you, apply for one of our Lifeguard positions!


Not currently certified, or has your certification expired? If you’re the right candidate, Elgin Country Club will cover the cost of your certification or recertification.


Our pool season runs from Memorial Day weekend through the Labor Day holiday.


POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position will be responsible for providing a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all Members and guests by consistently monitoring pool and deck activity while enforcing safety rules.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Greet every Member/Guest that enters the pool area with a smile and friendly greeting.
  • Check in all Memebrs/Guests upon entering the pool deck.
  • Prevent injuries and eliminate hazards, recognize and respond effectively in emergency situations, and operate all applicable equipment safely according to established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for opening and closing duties, safety checks, and performing first aid care as needed.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the pool deck, bathrooms, and kiddie pool area.
  • Washing and folding of all pool towels and keeping them stored in the appropriate areas during business hours.
  • Communicate effectively with the Pool Manager and co-workers to help maintain a cohesive workplace.
  • Directing swimmers out of water in dangerous conditions.
  • Organizing and overseeing pool parties.
  • Help with swim team and home swim meets as directed by the pool manager.
  • Closely monitoring activities related to the pool area, identifying any safety issues throughout the shift.
  • Closely monitoring weather reports to make sure guests remain safe.
  • Quickly and efficiently respond to Member questions, comments, and concerns.
  • Ensure all closing duties are completed at the end of each shift to prepare for the next day.
Requirements:
  • Two or more years of lifeguard experience and/or relevant experience, transferable skills.
  • Star Guard with proof of Lifeguarding w/ CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid conducted by the American Red Cross.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment in-water practical skills test.
  • Availability: This is a summer-long commitment. Minimal time off will be approved to ensure safe and consistent service for our Members.
  • Scheduling: Minimum 5 hours per shift required; must be available mornings and evenings. Open availability preferred.
  • Experience coaching swim teams and teaching swimming lessons.
  • Ability to adhere to established procedures and guidelines while completing assigned tasks. .
  • Ability to be self-directed.
  • Skill in attention to detail.

Compensation: $16–$18 per hour, based on experience and certifications.
