Job description

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Los Angeles, CA! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you'll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Los Angeles, CA

Details:

  • In-Person Tutoring in Los Angeles, CA
  • Schedule: 25 hours, 2 days a week
  • Pay range is between $25 and $35

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with adolescents or young adults with Autism, including use of AAC devices.
  • Strong background in Special Education, ABA, RBT, SLP, or SPED teaching credentials.
  • Skilled in teaching executive functioning, functional academics, literacy, math, and life skills.
  • Patient, structured, and able to manage challenging behaviors with positive strategies.
  • Knowledgeable in multi-modal instruction using visual, auditory, and tactile supports.
  • Passionate about helping students achieve academic, communication, and independence goals.
  • Preferred: Degree or certification in Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, ABA, or related fields.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction and support in language, communication, reading, writing, and math, including math word problems.
  • Teach functional academics and independent living skills, such as money handling and task completion.
  • Support executive functioning skills, including organization, planning, attention, and cognitive flexibility.
  • Use the AAC device proactively to encourage communication and support understanding; incorporate gestures or sign language as appropriate.
  • Implement structured, multi-modal teaching strategies with visual aids, charts, and step-by-step instruction.
  • Apply behavioral strategies to address occasional emotional outbursts, wandering, and overstimulation, including preferential seating and minimizing background noise.
  • Provide consistent reinforcement, positive feedback, and structured routines to support learning and engagement.
  • Collaborate with caregivers to align instruction with the student's goals and maintain progress updates.
  • Encourage independent engagement with academic and communication tasks while providing appropriate prompting and support.
