Job description

As we continue to grow our Healthcare & Life Sciences proposition in North America, we're looking for our first onshore Life Sciences Underwriter to join our team.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in building and developing a strategically important portfolio within one of the world's most innovative specialist insurers.ย  As the first onshore US Life Sciences Underwriter, you'll help establish CFC's physical market presence in the sector, contribute to product development, shape underwriting strategy and play an important role in influencing the future direction of the portfolio.

Based hybrid in our New York office, or working remotely in one of our hubs in Atlanta or Chicago, you'll be joining a business that combines underwriting expertise, technology, data and entrepreneurial thinking to deliver market-leading solutions for businesses operating at the forefront of science, healthcare and innovation.
As a Life Sciences Underwriter, you'll be responsible for underwriting and growing a portfolio of Life Sciences business across the North America market, working closely with brokers to identify opportunities, assess risk and deliver tailored insurance solutions.
You'll evaluate submissions across a broad range of Life Sciences risks, including biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, digital health and healthcare services companies, balancing commercial opportunity with strong underwriting discipline.

You'll work collaboratively with colleagues across underwriting, claims, legal, product and operations teams globally, leveraging CFC's extensive expertise while building strong relationships with brokers and clients throughout North America.
We're looking for an experienced commercial underwriter who is passionate about Life Sciences and excited by the opportunity to help build a growing portfolio within an entrepreneurial environment.
You'll have experience underwriting Life Sciences risks across North America, or closely related healthcare or specialist commercial risks, and be highly reputable with with brokers in this exciting fast-paced market. We're interested in individuals who combine strong technical underwriting capability with commercial awareness, relationship-building skills and a growth mindset.

You'll enjoy working autonomously whilst collaborating with global colleagues, and you'll be motivated by the opportunity to make a visible impact within a business that empowers people to challenge convention and think differently.
