Employment Category: Full Time / Exempt Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD Travel: None Security Clearance: DoD Secret or ability to earn Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen Responsibilities: The Research Scientist will research novel materials, with an emphasis on plasmonic materials, nanocrystalline metal synthesis, and electro-optical analysis methodologies

Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of scientific research in the studies of aerosols, applicable instrumentation, and the field testing of materials and equipment. Perform scientific R&D projects involving chemicals, materials, explosives, and equipment related to obscurants and dissemination systems in the laboratory and field Research novel materials with obscuration properties in various sections of the electromagnetic spectrum Contribute to presentations, technical reports and research publications Mentor and lead junior staff as required Education: Doctorate degree in Physics, or related science/engineering field Compensation & Benefits: Pay: $90k - $110k Schedule: 40 hrs/week 401K with up to 4% employer matching contribution 3 weeks (120 hrs/year) Paid Time Off (PTO), Federal holidays, and Sick Leave Comprehensive Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance, Short Term/Long Term Disability Tuition Reimbursement Program Must be a U.S. Citizen 5 years of related research experience Must have extensive knowledge of aerosol science

Must be proficient in planning and conducting experiments in the laboratory and field Scientific and technical expertise to investigate ultra-fine, high-aspect ratio particles Strong data collection and analysis skills Excellent communication skills in English and the ability multitask, prioritize, and complete work within schedule Able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance Bonus points if you have: Experience with military obscuration testing Experience in processing and interpreting large experimental or atmospheric datasets with personal code or commercial software products Experience with R&D related to the explosive dispersion of materials Must be a U.S. Citizen 5 years of related research experience Must have extensive knowledge of aerosol science.
