Job description

JCM Associates, Inc. is hiring HVAC Mechanics for full time year-round positions in commercial mechanical construction projects in the MD, VA, and DC area.

JCM Associates, Inc. provides mechanical services throughout the Washington DC Metropolitan area. We take pride in every project we take on and strive to communicate and accomplish the goals each one of our clients sets out to achieve. These services include new construction, renovation and maintenance of HVAC and Plumbing systems for plan-spec, design-build and design-assist commercial and high-rise residential buildings. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repairs, overhauls, maintains, and services industrial residential heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems and refrigeration units. Troubleshoots and locates malfunctions, diagnoses problems, and determines appropriate repairs.
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces thermostats, pressure stats, relays, switches, and electrical wiring.
  • Repairs or replaces compressors and components, electric motors, fans, belts, and pulleys.
  • Mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications.
  • Fabricates, assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment.
  • Installs evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system, using hand tools.
  • Services and repairs evaporators, condensers, and receivers. Repacks valves, lubricates moving parts, replaces filters, and cleans coils.
  • Works from blueprints, drawings, models, and/or verbal and written instructions.
  • Maintains refrigerate inventory and consumption logs.
  • Follows established safety procedures and utilizes safety protective equipment and clothing pertaining to particular trades or skills.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Descale tubing; cut and thread pipe; make pipe and low voltage connections.
  • Provides proper methods of storing and maintaining tools, equipment and supplies in a safe and orderly condition.
  • Meet schedules and time lines.
  • Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders
  • Test pipe or tubing joints and connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution.
  • Teach and instruct helper on the installation of a HVAC system.

Minimum Skills/Requirements:

  • Do u need a license??
  • 5 years of experience building commercial mechanical projects
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems
  • Ability to read, understand and work from drawings, specifications and schematics
  • Understands written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
