Job description:
Trident Naval Systems of Canada Inc, is one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 Company that covers the entire spectrum of maritime infrastructure needs. Our focus is on delivering the best-engineered solutions in marine interiors, distributed ship systems, electromechanical solutions, insulation, and automation and control. We are currently recruiting a Drafting technologist to join our dedicated outfitting team at our Vancouver, BC location.
Responsibilities
  • Create and develop engineering designs and technical drawings using initial concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other reference materials.
  • Build Building Information Models with specialized software to produce digital representations of structural and functional elements of buildings and other engineering projects.
  • Use computer-assisted design (CAD) tools and drafting workstations.
  • Use Navisworks tools
  • Produce design sketches and layout concepts.
  • Prepare full documentation packages and complete sets of drawings.
  • Review and validate drawings to ensure they meet specifications and design requirements.
  • Write technical documentation and reports.
  • Produce construction specifications, cost estimates, and material quantities.
  • Oversee and train junior technologists, technicians, and drafting staff.

Qualifications
• Knowledge relating to the design of Insulation Systems, Joiner Bulkhead Systems, Sheathing, Ceiling Systems, Deck Covering Systems, Doors, Furniture, Galley Equipment, Gratings and Battens, and to a lesser extent, related plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and piping
• Ability to apply safety standards and adhere to industry regulations, including T9640-AC-DSP-010_HAB Habitability Design Criteria and Practices Manual, OPNAV INST 9640.1C Shipboard Habitability Program, various MIL-STD's and MIL-PRF's, IMO/ FTP Code, SOLAS, and MIL-S-901 Shock Classification
• Associate degree or technical school in mechanical drafting field. Commiserate experience may be considered
• Five years' experience in Shipbuilding is required
• Extensive knowledge of the Naval Architecture designated engineering field
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to apply safety standards and adhere to industry regulations
Job Type: Full-time. 40 hours per week
