Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Autonomous Systems Technician to join our team. The successful candidate is responsible for the on-board system maintenance for the Autonomous System during implementation of the Automation Project and ongoing performance as the project transitions into operations additionally the completion of Autonomous Haulage training at Nevada Gold Mines, Goldrush Operations.
As part of the Network & Communications team, the successful candidate will be able to work safely and effectively with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:
As the Underground Autonomous Systems Technician, you'll be at the heart of supporting the network and communications systems for autonomous machinery and mining network infrastructure that is vital for our operations. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Be trained and develop in depth technical knowledge to be deemed competent in the operation of the Autonomous Haulage System, and support functions.
  • Maintain the Autonomous system safely and in accordance with OEM manual and aligned to the Nevada Gold Mines safety standards.
  • Collaborate with field and office personnel daily to support the execution of the daily plan for installation and productive haulage.
  • Offer first response to loader faults and autonomous issues. Troubleshoot and identify system issues and report to internal partners for escalation or support to solve the issues.
  • Maintain autonomous hardware to OEM standard. Inspect autonomous hardware and base underground loader conditions, with calibration activities of on-board systems.
  • Maintain base underground loader functionality to achieve physical availability which will include daily inspections.
  • Provide technical support including in-field calibration of on-board sensors and components such as cameras, LiDAR, and communications systems.
  • Install and configure hardware, electrical, and network technology systems on underground loaders and mining infrastructure.
  • Participate in the development of a training model, curriculum, and competency evaluation for Autonomous Operations and Maintenance at NGM.
  • Provide input to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for autonomous equipment for safe operations.
  • Participate in evaluation of all technology solutions regarding safety and health risk, production risk, and sustained feasibility.
  • Installation and maintenance duties for underground and surface networks and communications equipment. Including: fiber optic networks, Cisco Wi-Fi/switches, Sandvik Automine autonomous loader areas.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years practical experience in surface or underground mining departments under MSHA regulations preferred
  • Autonomous systems or operational experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated safety leadership capability for both self and team required
  • Low voltage electrical experience following NEC and MSHA guidelines and requirements required
  • Knowledge and experience in networking and communication design to follow, implement and maintain Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model preferred
  • Exhibit outstanding verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational skills, and analytical skills required
  • Proficient with SAP, PuTTY, and Microsoft Office Applications Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint preferred.
  • Proficient with emerging technology adoption preferred
  • Systems experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain a high standard of working ethics required
