Job description

Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC)

Schedule: Full-Time
 Location: In Person in Billings, Montana

 

About the Position

We are seeking a Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) to provide clinical and therapeutic services in a residential treatment setting. This role works with individuals experiencing substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, complex trauma, and other behavioral health needs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake and ASAM assessments.
  • Develop and update individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide individual, group, and crisis counseling.
  • Support clients during behavioral or emotional crises.
  • Provide trauma-informed care and evidence-based interventions.
  • Monitor client progress and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with medical, mental health, and other clinical providers.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case reviews.
  • Support staff training related to trauma-informed care and crisis intervention.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable regulations.
  • Assist with community partnerships and other clinical program activities.

 

Requirements

  • Current Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) license in Montana.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree with required addiction counseling education.
  • 1–2 years of post-licensure experience in substance use, behavioral health, or co-occurring treatment.
  • Experience working with individuals with complex trauma is preferred.
  • Experience in residential treatment, crisis stabilization, shelter services, or intensive outpatient settings is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in challenging situations.
  • Must pass required background and employment screenings.

Work Environment

This is an in-person position in a residential treatment environment. The role may involve emotionally intense situations, crisis response, and working with individuals experiencing trauma or behavioral health challenges.
