Role Overview

The Safety Inspector I is responsible for maintaining a visible and active presence throughout ASC's manufacturing facilities to promote a culture of safety, identify workplace hazards, and ensure compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements. This position supports the implementation and effectiveness of ASC's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs through routine inspections, employee coaching, hazard recognition, and active engagement with production personnel.

The Safety Inspector I works closely with operations leadership, supervisors, and employees to reinforce safe work practices, document observations, and assist with corrective actions while developing their professional knowledge of workplace safety and regulatory compliance. Success in this role will be measured through safety engagement, inspection completion, hazard identification, corrective action follow-up, and overall contribution to ASC's safety culture.

Plant Floor Presence: Approximately 85–90%

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong and visible presence on the manufacturing floor to support employee safety and promote safe work practices.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections throughout production, warehouse, and facility areas.
  • Identify and document unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and potential workplace hazards.
  • Coach and educate employees on proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Monitor compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct daily safety observations and provide real-time feedback to employees and supervisors.
  • Verify machine guarding is properly installed, maintained, and utilized.
  • Monitor high-risk activities including: Forklift Operations, Overhead Crane Operations, Ladder Use, Scaffold Activities, & Hot Work Operations
  • Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Support new employee safety orientations and onboarding activities.
  • Document hazards, corrective actions, safety observations, and inspection findings.
  • Participate in Safety Committee meetings and contribute to safety improvement initiatives.
  • Support facility emergency response and preparedness activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely inspection records, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Conduct housekeeping and workplace organization inspections to promote a safe work environment.
  • Report safety concerns, recurring hazards, and trends to safety leadership and operational management.
  • Assist with safety campaigns, training initiatives, and employee engagement activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen ASC's safety culture and reduce workplace risks.
  • Ensure all activities support ASC's commitment to safety, quality, accountability, and operational excellence.

  • Complete 3–5 documented safety observations per day.
  • Achieve 100% completion of assigned safety inspections.
  • Ensure timely documentation and follow-up of corrective actions.
  • Maintain a high level of employee engagement and participation in safety programs.

What We're Looking For

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field preferred.
  • 0–2 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, military, construction, or related environments.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of occupational safety principles and hazard recognition.
  • Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Certifications

  • OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification (Required upon hire).
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification (Required within 12 months of hire).
  • CPR / First Aid / AED Certification.
  • Forklift Operator Certification.
  • Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP / Scissor Lift) Certification.

  • Ability to access elevated work areas using ladders, stairs, lifts, or platforms when properly trained and authorized.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Ability to perform inspections throughout large production facilities for extended periods.
