Job description

Regional Veterinary Technician Training Manager

Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Care Center

Veterinary Specialty Hospital of Palm Beach Gardens

About The Position

Full-time

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Frequent travel to regional hospitals is required and dependent on the needs of the region, up to 80%

This role will provide support, training and mentorship for Thrive teams within their region and collaborate closely with the National Technician Director to implement initiatives that align with Thrive Pet Healthcare's strategic objectives and elevate the standards of medical excellence across all Thrive hospitals.

Key Main Responsibilities
  • Partner with the National Technician Director and regional hospital leadership to identify skill gaps, training needs, and development priorities, and coordinate regional hospital support plans.
  • Provide local leaders with tools, training, and feedback to support competency assessments and the development of targeted onboarding, training, and upskilling plans aligned with organizational goals and clinical excellence.
  • Deliver coaching, mentorship, and professional development support to Veterinary Technicians, Assistants, trainers, and technician leaders across the region.
  • Mentor and provide support to hospital technician leaders and trainers on available resources and best adult learning and coaching practices.
  • Support team member progression through Thrive's clinical skills and knowledge leveling pathway and assist in establishing individual growth and development goals.
  • Promote a culture of learning, psychological safety, accountability, and continuous improvement that encourages professional growth and engagement.
  • Ensure training initiatives, educational resources, and development programs align with Thrive standards, medical protocols, and regional priorities.
  • Provide recommendations to hospital leadership regarding staffing utilization, workflow optimization, operational efficiency, and team development opportunities.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate training activities, outcomes, skill gaps, successes, and emerging challenges to hospital and regional leadership.
  • Contribute to Thriveโ€™s Technician Advisory Council meetings, initiatives, and projects.
  • Maintain expertise in veterinary medicine, adult learning principles, coaching methodologies, and industry best practices to support consistent excellence across Thrive hospitals.
  • Serve as a clinical and operational resource by modeling best practices in patient care, safety, communication, and team effectiveness.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience as a credentialed veterinary technician.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in training, leadership, or management roles.
  • Must possess exceptional veterinary technician skills and knowledge base.
  • Current or previous proven contributor of a well-functioning, highly effective team.
  • Demonstrates expertise in competency-based training in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrates experience in servant leadership, mentoring, coaching, and conflict resolution.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and a high degree of Emotional Intelligence (EI).
  • Solution oriented.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide teams.
  • Passion for veterinary medicine and commitment to improving quality of medicine and patient care.
Licensure/Certification
  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT or LVMT) certification
