Job description

60% - Outreach & Engagement|
  • Represent KU Libraries at campus orientations, information fairs, and library events such as book clubs, movie screening, workshops, and KU Reads activities.
  • Assist with set-up and clean-up of library programs and events.
  • Increase awareness among undergraduate students about KU Libraries programming and resources. 
  • Deliver a public presentation at the conclusion of the semester that summarizes the experience and presents recommendations.
30% - Learning & Collaboration
  • Attend monthly meetings with the Center for Undergraduate Initiatives and Engagement, and weekly meetings with individual librarians in connection with existing library programs and events.
  • Provide input and feedback on library outreach and engagement activities.
  • Serve as a collaborative partner with KU Libraries faculty and staff.
  • Build a working knowledge of KU Libraries resources and services in order to appropriately refer students.
10% - Other Duties as Assigned,KU Libraries is seeking a dedicated individual to apply to be the Sanders Scholar for Library Outreach and Engagement during the Fall 2026 semester. The Sanders Scholar program provides funding for a student to work closely with a librarian mentor at KU Libraries to learn about the evolving practice of librarianship. As a Sanders Scholar, you will play a vital role in providing outreach and facilitating undergraduate student programming at Anschutz Library and Watson Library. Outreach responsibilities will include tabling, assisting librarians at student success programs and events, helping raise awareness among peers to promote the Libraries, and assisting with collecting feedback from students about their curricular and co-curricular needs.
This project is ideal for students who want to get involved on campus, develop and implement library programming, and learn about the outreach and engagement responsibilities of academic librarians. The preferred candidate will be familiar with KU Libraries programs, resources, spaces, and services.
