Job description

Class Description The purpose of this class is to facilitate borrowing, returning and reserving library materials for library customers, including faculty, staff, students and other library systems within Maryland, as well as support customer usage of library spaces and resources. Minimum Requirements High School diploma/GED and three years' experience working in a library, or Associate's Degree and one year of experience working in a library. Associate's Degree in Library and Information Technology preferred.

One year experience working with computers and Microsoft Office software and applications required. Experience with learning management software and library services platforms such as Sierra and SpringShare are preferred. One year of customer service experience is preferred.

Class Specific Essential Duties Assist library customers by reserving, checking-in, checking-out and renewing library materials. Answer general questions and provide information on library policies, procedures and programs; refer customers needing additional research assistance to librarians. Assist library customers with operating library computers, photocopiers, printers, scanners and other equipment provided for public use, including troubleshooting and working with college ITS and vendors to resolve issues.

Process and maintain library materials with attention to detail, accuracy, and in accordance with standard procedures. Ship, route, and move library materials. Provide guidance to part-time associates and student workers.

Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all inclusive. There will be other duties as assigned. Position Specific Essential Duties Manage records in the circulation, cataloging, and acquisitions module of the integrated library system.

Provide courteous, hands-on customer service to students needing assistance with educational learning technology, such as MyCCBC applications, Microsoft Office, other software used for completing schoolwork and accessing the college network. Participate in print collection maintenance, such as inventory, shelf-reading, donation processing, and shifting. Responsible for opening and closing the library as required and keeping the public service desk area neat and organized.

Contribute to creating and maintaining a quality academic library atmosphere that is welcoming, organized, well-kept, safe and most of all conducive to learning. Support user experience and accessibility work for library resources and programs. Support the continuous functioning of the library's technology assets, including websites, software, and hardware resources.
