Job description

Customer Service Representative

Find yourself at the Library, specifically at our Fruitville Branch. We are currently looking for a Customer Service Representative to help assist the patrons of the Library. From book recommendation, to assisting with research, and helping with our external programs, this position has an opportunity to really engage with Sarasota County community members.

Provides assistance at all library service locations and stations with internal and external patrons. Helps instruct patrons on library policies and procedures. Assists users in locating, selecting, and assisting users in Library technology, equipment and other resources. Assists library users in person, by phone, or electronically, answering questions, and /or redirecting questions to the appropriate person. May participate in planning, presentation, and evaluation of library sponsored programs for public and county events. Assists in cash management duties such as collecting fees, and Unique Management collections, including such duties as daily shift, drawer counts, and deposits as needed. Assists in materials checkout/check-in, retrieves and process reserves, billing and missing items processes as needed. Sorts and shelves materials and maintains an orderly arrangement of materials. Participates in cross training in other sections and aids in cross training in their section to create a team-oriented workplace. Keeps abreast of developments, new trends, and innovations in libraries. Helps with our volunteers. Work Hours: 40 Hours/Week Library hours of operation: Monday - Wednesday: 8am - 8pm Thursday: 8am - 6pm Friday - Sundays: 8am - 5pm Work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, on-call, emergencies, etc. Employee may be re-assigned to fill in at other Libraries within Sarasota County.

Minimum Qualifications: A High School Diploma or equivalent and one-year experience Preferred Qualifications: Customer service experience working in libraries or similar settings. Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Pay: Starting pay is $15.15/hour. Pay is negotiable, up to $17.50/hour, for candidates with library experience. This Posting is currently Open Until Filled
