Job description

Job Summary Under supervision, this position reshelves circulated and in-house used material allowing for the immediate recirculation of material. Essential Functions 1. Shelves all library materials and shifts as needed.

2. Shelf reads all materials. 3.

Checks-in returned material when needed. 4. Empties drive-up book drop.

5. Collects materials used by patrons in the library and scan them for usage statistics. 6.

Arranges book carts for shelving. 7. Performs light clean-up activities involving litter, dusting, etc.

8. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position. 9.

Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers, and others in the course of daily work. 10. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.

Required Skills SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Ability to provide excellent customer service. Experience or class studies in word processing or typing. Good knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammar and formatting.

Excellent interpersonal skills required. Attention to detail. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS High school student, graduate or equivalent.

Ability to learn alpha numerical filing and Dewey Decimal Classification System of shelving. Must have the physical ability to perform job functions. Ability to speak English is required; ability to speak Spanish fluently is preferred.

Must pass a federal/national criminal background check and those handling money will be required to pass a credit check. Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, and functional assessment screening (Level 2). WORKING CONDITIONS While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is rarely exposed to disagreeable environmental factors.
