Part Time Media Clerk

New Milford Public School District 10-month position (Position available September 1, 2026)

Located in the heart of Bergen County, our school district is dedicated to fostering a supportive, innovative, and high-achieving learning environment. We pride ourselves on cultivating a diverse, inclusive community where every student is empowered to reach their full potential.

The Media Center Clerk provides essential clerical, technical, and operational support to ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the school library and media center. This role focuses on managing the circulation of materials, assisting students and staff, organizing resources, and supporting technology inventory. The ideal candidate is highly organized, tech-savvy, and enjoys working in an educational environment.

High school diploma; college-level coursework in education or related field. Minimal experience as determined by the board. Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication and ability to assist with instructional activities. Clerical aptitude, good typing skills and knowledge of current information technology. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

Assists students in locating referencing materials. Assists students in making proper use of media center equipment and materials. Shelves library materials. Handles library mail and types correspondence and reports. Processes new books, magazines and other media materials. Catalogs and files learning materials. Distributes schedule of the use of the media center and its materials and equipment. Assists in preparing and maintaining educational displays. Operates the circulation desk, maintains clerical files and handles overdue library loans. Repairs library materials as necessary. Duplicates learning materials as requested. Performs other related duties as assigned including assisting main office coverage as needed.

Compensation: Commensurate with New Milford Association of Educational Secretaries (NMAES) Guide Part time hours may range from 20-30 hours per week (.5 -.75). (hours will be discussed upon hire) Sick, personal and bereavement day allotments are included as per NMAES Contract.
