Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Developer - Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs) to join our team.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs) for structured and unstructured datasets in collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs);
  • Apply advanced computing principles to efficiently integrate multiple open-source libraries, components, and platforms into cohesive and operational solutions;
  • Design, develop, and validate proof-of-concept (POC) solutions, with a focus on deployment in production environments;
  • Develop and implement test harnesses to evaluate and compare different solution approaches based on performance, scalability, quality, and privacy metrics;
  • Create, maintain, and optimize Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) pipelines to ingest, transform, validate, sanitize, and prepare data for processing and analysis;
  • Provision, configure, orchestrate, and manage cloud resources required to support deployed solutions;
  • Assess and recommend new tools, technologies, and processes to improve solution performance, efficiency, scalability, and maintainability;
  • Analyze results and technical findings, develop recommendations, and present conclusions to stakeholders to support the large-scale deployment of operational PET solutions;
  • Prepare technical reports, data deliverables, presentations, documentation, and other artifacts required to support project execution and decision-making;
  • Perform any other related activities or produce any other related deliverables as required.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in a field related to Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Cryptography, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or Statistics;
  • A minimum of five (5) years of recent, demonstrated experience in Python development, including the following libraries: NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Polars, PySpark, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and Matplotlib/Seaborn;
  • A minimum of three (3) years of recent, demonstrated experience with DevOps practices and methodologies, including SOLID principles, software version control, Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Deployment (CD), and the development and deployment of data science applications;
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and processing large, complex datasets within government organizations, financial services, or other highly regulated environments;
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing privacy-preserving technologies, including data anonymization, de-identification, differential privacy, secure multi-party computation, federated learning, homomorphic encryption, or other equivalent privacy-preserving techniques;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data structures, data models, and data relationships;
  • Demonstrated experience with the following platforms and tools: Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Jupyter Notebooks, and Docker;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Linux environments and basic scripting concepts;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of techniques such as Monte Carlo simulation, Markov models, synthetic data generation, differential privacy, homomorphic encryption, and Zero-Knowledge Proofs;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the following concepts and techniques: GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks), Transformers, Auto-Encoders, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG);
  • Knowledge of machine learning model development methodologies;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of infrastructure automation and management concepts, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, or equivalent technologies;
  • The consultant must hold a valid Government of Canada Secret security clearance;
  • Excellent English communication skills, as the position is based in Ottawa.
