Description:

The CNC Programmer I is responsible for planning, creating, and optimizing CNC programs, tooling instructions, and setup documentation to ensure precision machining that meets aerospace industry standards. This role includes developing detailed job plans that define machining sequences, tooling requirements, and setup strategies to maximize efficiency and quality. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced production environment while driving continuous improvement in machining and planning processes.

Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program, validate, and optimize CNC machining processes (3,4 &5 axis) using MasterCAM/CAMWorks, Vericut, and 3D solid modeling (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Support job planning by preparing machining sequences, tooling requirements, and setup strategies under the guidance of senior programmers.
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to create accurate CNC programs with supervision.
  • Apply GD&T principles to ensure dimensional accuracy and manufacturability.
  • Assist in the design and optimization of tooling, fixtures, and production models.
  • Provide support to machinists during setups, first articles, and troubleshooting of programming or tooling issues.
  • Follow AS9100/AS9102 standards, ITAR regulations, and company documentation practices.
  • Help maintain programming files, tooling libraries, and process documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts by suggesting process or programming enhancements.
  • Stay engaged in learning new CNC programming techniques, 3D modeling tools, and machining technologies.
  • Perform additional tasks or assignments as directed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5+ years’ experience in CNC programming, (aerospace preferred).
  • Certificate or associate degree in CNC programming, machining, or a related technical field (or Bachelor’s degree in engineering)
  • Or equivalent work experience

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software.
  • Ability to analyze engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication skills for collaborating with engineers, production, and quality.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on safety protocols.

ITAR Compliance Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
  • Responsible for safeguarding export-controlled technical data in compliance with ITAR and company procedures.
  • Completion of ITAR compliance training and strict adherence to export control protocols required.
