Job description

General Statement of Duties Provides customer service to patrons at various service desks and performs general administrative work. Qualifications Education and Experience: High School Diploma, plus one (1) year of professional experience working in a library or fast-paced, computerized office environment. Qualifications: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a timely manner.

Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of a personal computer and the use of software such as Microsoft Word and Excel, and other industry-related software. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated knowledge of the Dewey Decimal system and the ability to shelve in strict alphabetical and numerical order.

Demonstrated ability to deal tactfully and effectively with library patrons and work collaboratively with other staff members. Demonstrated ability to perform the physical aspect of the position including, the ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, kneel, lift and carry equipment and library material (up to 30 lbs.), and push and pull library carts (weighing up to 300 lbs.). Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed

Job Description Department: Greenwich Library Division: All divisions Bargaining Status: Non-Represented FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Duties and Responsibilities: Provides technology support and general information about library resources and the location of materials to patrons. Creates and maintains patron accounts. Supports library events including managing reservations and room setup.

Enters data into the online library catalog and prepares materials using the automated acquisition system. Assists with the circulation of library materials. Distributes mail and periodicals.

Assists with the opening and closing of library branches. Supports Town policies and philosophies. Performs other related work as required.

Supplemental Information All positions may be subject to an interview process. The Town reserves the right to limit the number of qualified candidates who will be invited to participate in the examination, or any part thereof. All outside candidates will be required to undertake and successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test that includes testing for THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana), given at the Town's expense prior to employment if conditionally offered a part time, full time or safety sensitive position.

The Town of Greenwich has implemented a policy of background investigations all full and part time positions prior to hiring as part of the reference checking procedures for outside candidates. The investigation will only be conducted as the last step prior to an offer. Refusal to sign the release form will terminate the candidate's further consideration.
