Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position
The Department of Liberal Studies invites applications for Part-Time Instructors for Fall 2026. Part-Time Instructors are hired on a semester-by-semester basis to teach courses in liberal studies. Courses include: "Introduction to Liberal Studies," "African American Studies," "Introduction to Race, Class, and Culture;" Philosophy courses such as "Introductory Logic, "World Religions;" and introductory courses in Spanish and French.
The successful candidate is expected to teach introductory and advanced level courses by the Department of Liberal Studies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: teach face-to-face and/or online, attend training and/or review sessions. Additional duties will include, but are not limited to, academic advising of students, supporting student organizations, participating in program development and assessment. The candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with faculty and staff in the department and university.
This is a non-permanent, temporary position.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Liberal Studies supports over 300 undergraduate majors along with providing general education courses for the university.
Unique among undergraduate programs, the Department of Liberal Studies provides an exciting and rigorous major in seven concentrations. Students and faculty dedicated to interdisciplinary, cross-disciplinary, and trans-disciplinary studies collaborate in research in African-American Studies, Cultural Studies, International Studies, Pre-Law, Race, Class and Culture, and Women's Studies.
Additionally, select students may design, plan and execute their own individualized majors. Our department offers students an opportunity for minors in Spanish, French and philosophy.

Minimum Requirements
To teach Philosophy courses candidates must have a Master's degree in Philosophy at time of application.
To teach Liberal Studies courses the candidates must have a Master's degree in Liberal Studies or a related field at time of application.
To teach Spanish and French courses, candidates much have a Master's degree or higher in Spanish and French at the time of application.
