Job description

Ann & Nate Levine Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Librarian & Inclusive Media Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about literacy, accessible technology, and fostering an environment of belonging for all learners. This role actively integrates modern media tools into the library program while partnering directly with classroom teachers to support student learning and academic achievement.


Responsibilities

  1. Library & Media Management: Select, organize, catalog, and maintain school library resources, print materials, and digital technologies.
  2. Inclusive Technology & Assistive Media: Curate and instruct students in using accessible media mediums—such as Learning Ally, audiobooks, podcasts, and video creation tools—to foster belonging, accommodate diverse learning styles, and build literacy skills.
  3. In-Classroom Collaboration: Actively co-plan and collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate library resources, research strategies, and instructional technology into classroom units and daily instruction.
  4. Literacy & Reading Engagement: Promote a love of reading through engaging programs, including our Literacy Night/Day, author visits, podcast production projects, and interactive story times.
  5. Instruction & Research: Teach effective, age-appropriate library research strategies, digital citizenship, and information literacy across grade levels.
  6. Environment & Culture: Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and safe physical and digital library space where every student feels represented and supported in independent learning.
  7. Standards & Policies: Adhere to school policies, student privacy guidelines, and professional standards.


Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s in Library Science
  • Experience: Previous experience working in a school library, media center, or educational setting is required.
  • Instructional Technology Expertise: Proficiency with accessibility platforms (e.g., Learning Ally), digital media creation (podcasting, audiobooks), and online catalog systems. This includes middle school electives centered on literacy from design to implementation.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record of co-teaching and collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents.
  • Culture & Belonging: Strong dedication to supporting diverse learning needs and fostering a positive reading culture.
