Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Healing Place (THP) is a nationally recognized nonprofit recovery program providing hope, healing, and long-term support for individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring behavioral health needs. For more than 30 years, THP has combined a proven peer-driven model with high-quality clinical services to meet the evolving needs of our community. Clinician Level 3 is an experienced role for individuals who demonstrate strong clinical judgment, independent practice, and leadership. In addition to providing direct services, this role supports clinical supervision, documentation quality, and onboarding of new clinicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Clinical Services
  • Provide individual counseling, group therapy, and clinical interventions using evidence-based models such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed care, Behavioral Modification, and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, interviews, treatment planning, and ongoing progress evaluations for adult clients.
  • Facilitate IOP groups and structured therapeutic groups as assigned.
  • Engage families or support systems, when appropriate, to reinforce client recovery goals.
  • Respond to client crises with de-escalation, stabilization, and safety planning.
Clinical Leadership & Supervision
  • Provide clinical supervision to at least one clinician or clinical trainee in accordance with professional licensing board standards.
  • Serve as a resource for less experienced clinicians regarding treatment planning, clinical interventions, and professional development.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new clinical staff, including orientation to documentation standards, workflows, and clinical expectations.
  • Model strong professional boundaries, ethical decision-making, and high-quality clinical practice.
Clinical Collaboration
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings to discuss client progress, barriers, and clinical recommendations.
  • Work closely with peer-driven program staff to ensure integrated, wraparound care.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to align client needs with program expectations and recovery milestones.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to clinical services and program effectiveness.
Documentation, Compliance & EHR Support
  • Complete all clinical documentation within 24 hours of client interactions, ensuring accuracy, professionalism, and compliance with regulatory and billing requirements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, ethical standards, and adherence to federal, state, and professional guidelines.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and assist other clinicians with documentation workflows and best practices.
  • Review and lock clinical documentation as assigned, including the ability to lock notes for at least one other clinician to ensure compliance and timely completion of records.
Professional Development
  • Maintain independent licensure and remain current with continuing education requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices in substance use disorders, trauma-informed care, and behavioral health treatment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and leadership growth opportunities.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field
  • Active independent Kentucky licensure (LCSW, LPCC, LCADC, or equivalent)
  • Experience in behavioral health and/or substance use disorder treatment
  • Experience providing clinical supervision preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage complex cases
  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Clinical leadership and mentorship capabilities
  • Ability to manage an independent caseload
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced residential environment
  • Respect for diverse backgrounds and recovery journeys
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in crisis situations
