Join a high-volume, physician-led acute care surgery program SAMGI is seeking a full-time Trauma & Acute Care Surgeon to join our established surgical team at The Hospitals of Providence East Campus, a Level II Trauma Center serving the greater El Paso region. This position offers a rewarding acute care surgery career with a balanced mix of trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care. Surgeons work alongside experienced partners, dedicated Advanced Practice Providers, and hospital leadership committed to program improvements and operational stability. We are looking for surgeons who value clinical excellence, teamwork, efficiency, and the opportunity to help shape a growing trauma program within a physician-led organization.

Position highlights:

  • Full-time employed position

Schedule & practice structure:

  • 12 day shifts and 12 night shifts per month

Responsibilities:

  • Provide trauma and emergency general surgery coverage
  • Evaluate and manage critically injured and acute surgical patients
  • Perform operative trauma and emergency surgical procedures
  • Collaborate closely with team surgeons, APPs, and consultants
  • Participate in trauma quality improvement and program initiatives
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation

Qualifications:

  • Board certified or board eligible in general surgery
  • Active Texas medical license or IMLC
  • Current or recent experience at a Level I or Level II Trauma Center required
  • Surgical critical care fellowship training or certification preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and team-oriented approach
