Job Description The recruitment is exempt from the hiring freeze (Administrative Order 358) **Classification Study Notice** This position is currently undergoing review as a part of the Emergency Services Dispatcher/Emergency Service Supervisor job class study and therefore both the title and the pay range assigned may be subject to change upon the completion of the study. This recruitment is open to Alaska Residents only. Applicants must meet Alaska Residency Requirements in order to be considered for employment at this time.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: To provide support for the Palmer Judicial Services Unit of the Department of Public Safety by dispatching Court Service Officers via radio, to calls for service while answering routine and emergency phone calls and providing the day to day support needs of the Control Room. OUR ORGANIZATION, MISSION, AND CULTURE: The Alaska State Troopers' mission is to preserve the peace, enforce the law, prevent and detect crimes, and protect life and property. As a member of the Alaska State Troopers, you will be instrumental in ensuring this mission is met by providing direct support for the Anchorage Judicial Services Unit and its Court Services Officers.

THE WORKING CONDITIONS YOU CAN EXPECT: The Palmer Judicial Services Unit is located in the Palmer Courthouse. The daily work environment consists of a friendly team of like-mided civillian and commisioned staff dedicated to the Alaska State Trooper's mission. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: The Palmer Judicial Services Unit is looking for an individual who is a self starter and works well individually, as well as a team.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the following areas of knowledge, skill, and abilities: Intermediate Knowledge of computer-based workstations including the Microsoft Office suite of products including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook Possesses a positive attitude and has experience establishing productive working relationships with team members. Applicants with the ability to produce consistently high-quality work in an environment with numerous interruptions and rapidly shifting priorities Applicants with the ability to work with confidential and sensitive information Applicants with exceptional critical thinking skills Strong verbal and written communication skills that clearly and concisely communicate the message to be conveyed to a broad spectrum of audiences. Ability to organize, set priorities, plan, and direct workflow and procedures for assigning work for Court Services Officers.

This experience must include six months of experience that entails clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, or maintaining logs

AND The ability to type at a net speed of 30 words per minute with no more than three errors per minute. OR Any combination of education from an accredited college (three semester hours or four quarter hours equal one month of experience), vocational education (150 hours equal one month of experience), and/or work experience may substitute for up to 18 months of non-specific work experience. Special Note: Specific positions in this job class may require incumbents to be Emergency Medical Certified, Emergency Police Certified, or Emergency Fire Dispatch Certified.

Shift work may be required. A background investigation will be required upon initial employment. This job class requires individuals to multitask and maintain emotional control and composure to work effectively during emergencies, crisis situations, and/or extremely stressful conditions.
