U1 Sports is a youth sports organization dedicated to helping young people thrive through athletics, academics, leadership, and enrichment. Through partnerships with schools and communities, we create engaging after-school experiences that help students build Confidence, Character, and Community.


Position Summary


U1 Sports is seeking a creative and energetic LEGO & Creative Building Instructor to lead structured building and design activities for elementary and middle school students participating in our U1 Enrich to 6 After-School Program.


The instructor will use LEGO bricks and other age-appropriate building materials to create fun challenges that encourage creativity, teamwork, engineering thinking, and problem-solving.


This is an enrichment position- the goal is to make building, designing, and creating fun and accessible rather than delivering an advanced engineering curriculum.


Key Responsibilities


  • Lead structured LEGO building and creative design activities.
  • Facilitate individual and team-based building challenges.
  • Introduce basic concepts related to design, engineering, structures, and problem-solving.
  • Encourage students to plan, build, test, and improve their creations.
  • Create age-appropriate challenges for different grade levels.
  • Promote creativity, collaboration, communication, and perseverance.
  • Provide students with opportunities to explain and showcase their creations.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment.
  • Organize LEGO pieces, building materials, and instructional supplies.
  • Collaborate with Program Leaders and other enrichment instructors.
  • Ensure materials are properly collected and stored following each session.

Qualifications Required:


  • Experience working with elementary or middle school students.
  • Creative and comfortable facilitating hands-on activities.
  • Strong communication and group management skills.
  • Organized and comfortable managing building materials and supplies.
  • Ability to provide clear instructions while allowing students room to create independently.
  • Enthusiastic, dependable, patient, and professional.


Preferred:


  • Experience with LEGO-based enrichment, STEM programming, makerspaces, engineering activities, camps, or after-school programs.
  • Current college student or degree in Education, Engineering, STEM, Art, Architecture, Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience designing hands-on activities for children.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.


Schedule:

Part-Time | Specialty Instructor


Approximately 1–2 afternoons per week during the school year.


Typical instructional block: 4:00 PM–5:00 PM.


Schedule may vary based on program enrollment and enrichment rotation.


Compensation


Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.
