Position: Intern Data Evaluation – Health Policy Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt
Supervisor: Senior Director of Advocacy Work Location: Hybrid
Hemophilia of Georgia (HoG) is a nationally and internationally recognized nonprofit organization that provides programs and support services for people with hemophilia, von Willebrand Disease, and other bleeding disorders. HoG is the only agency of its kind in the state and is dedicated to enhancing the health and wellness of the bleeding disorder community by providing excellence in comprehensive health care, education, advocacy, and the support of research to transform lives.

HoG offers a unique opportunity for graduate-level students interested in health policy, advocacy, and public health data analysis. The Health Policy amp; Data Evaluation Intern will play a critical role in supporting HoG’s advocacy work by tracking federal and state legislation, monitoring congressional and state-level hearings, analyzing executive orders, and evaluating public health data to inform organizational priorities. This internship provides hands-on experience at the intersection of policy and public health, offering the chance to contribute to meaningful advocacy that impacts individuals and families living with bleeding disorders. Interns will gain valuable skills in data analysis, legislative monitoring, and policy communication while working alongside experienced health policy professionals at a nationally recognized nonprofit.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate student preferred (health policy, public policy, public health, or health administration)
  • Strong data and analytics skills, with high-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
  • Ability to research, analyze, and synthesize health policy and legislative data
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality
  • Previous internship experience welcome but not required
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work without supervision, to use independent judgment, and to make appropriate decisions.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds
Essential Functions:
  • Track and monitor health policy developments at both the federal and state levels, including legislation, hearings, and executive orders.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on public health data relevant to HoG’s mission and policy
  • Priorities.
  • Attend and monitor congressional and state legislative meetings/hearings (in-person or virtually) and provide summaries for staff.
  • Support preparation of policy briefs, data reports, and advocacy materials.
  • Maintain policy and legislative tracking databases.
  • Assist with drafting communications related to health policy updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attend advocacy events as needed. May include some evenings and weekends.
  • Assist in planning and implementation of advocacy events.
