Helios Construction Services is seeking talented individuals to join our growing construction management firm based in Chicago, IL. Our diverse portfolio of commercial construction work includes office, retail, hospitality, institutional, multi-family residential, healthcare, and industrial projects. Our specialty is leveraging the best people, processes, data, and technology to execute detailed and complex projects. We offer our clients a full range of services at every stage of a building's life cycle, from development to post-construction facilities services.
We are currently looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead construction management on assigned projects and assist construction supervision efforts. We offer the choice between working at our Chicago or Woodridge office location.
Role overview:
As Project Manager, you will foster collaboration and empower teams to achieve project goals efficiently. You will take on significant responsibility and authority, delegating tasks effectively to project team members. This role requires strong decision-making skills, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to prioritize and deliver results while ensuring client satisfaction. You will be responsible for making well-informed decisions while weighing risk and reward and ensuring the timely resolution of project issues.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain positive relations and develop relationships with clients, architects, design consultants, and subcontractors, and act as a Helios representative for the general public
  • Identify critical path activities and address conflicting information before it affects the timely completion of project activities
  • Provide leadership and ensure a strong commitment to on-site safety and, along with the project team, provide feedback on the project site-specific safety program
  • Negotiate, award, write scope, and enforce subcontract agreements and purchase orders
  • Provide direction to subcontractors' executive and project management teams
  • Write, review, interpret, and/or research: Owner Agreements, project drawings, and specifications for problems, conflicts, interferences, and discrepancies
  • Lead preconstruction efforts in soliciting bids/quotes, performing estimates and takeoffs, establishing budgets, and securing new projects
  • Independently manage and coordinate monthly progress reports, financial cost control, change management, monthly payment applications, anticipated/forecasted cost reports, and other financial reports
  • Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, contracts with owners, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals, and all other project-related documents
  • Oversee the punch list and project closeout process; ensure timely completion of project and project closeout
  • Review, guide, and oversee all Project Engineer duties, and supervise, mentor, and train new Project Engineers and Interns

Minimum Requirements:
  • 5 to 7+ years of progressively increasing construction experience
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings and understand specifications
  • Competency in all trades
  • Thorough understanding of construction means, methods, procedures, and risk management
  • Proficiency in communication and collaboration tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with industry software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Microsoft Project, Procore, and other relevant software
  • LEED Accredited Professional and/or experience with sustainable construction
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
  • Thorough understanding of project management systems
