Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Directs the overall administration and technical support for the construction, maintenance and repair of Lebanon Utility's electric power lines, substations and street/security lighting.
  • Responsible for the oversight of all Electric/Engineering and Metering projects.
  • Supervises, trains and disciplines Electric Operations Department personnel.
  • Manages purchase requisitions and inventory for department materials and equipment.
  • Responsible for all equipment and vehicle specifications and requirements.
  • Submits annual budget information, five (5) CIP and staff requirements to the General Manager.
  • Manages the department approved budget.
  • Oversees work performed by outside contractors.
  • Coordinates departments work activities with other Utility Departments, private contractors, engineers, businesses and residents.
  • Responds to customer complaints as escalated.
  • Provides vision and planning for department with regards to Lebanon Utility's electric power lines, substations and street/security lighting.
  • Assists General Manager with hiring of department personnel.
  • Prepares monthly project progress reports that provide a summary of the status of each electric project.
  • Attends and provides written summaries for project meetings in the design, bidding, and construction phases to document and stay well-informed of the project details.
  • Regularly reviews actual project costs to confirm the project is staying within budget.
  • Participates in/on a variety of meetings, professional organizations, committees, and other related groups.
  • Serves as a liaison with internal departments, other utilities, public agencies, and external organizations.
  • Manages safety investigations for accidents, incidents, and injuries for all utilities.
  • Oversees content creation and delivery of field staff safety meeting presentations and events.
  • Conducts quarterly "safety and risk audits," including work-site inspections throughout the System, and makes recommendations for improvements. Provides written safety procedures as requested.
  • Coordinates OSHA safety and accident prevention training programs for all employees including new hire safety orientation, and recommends proper safety training and PPE as needed.
  • Recommends, designs, develops, and coordinates the implementation of performance-based safety and/or training programs.
  • Manage various projects with regards to scope, budget, schedule, quality, environmental, safety, communications, security, and integration.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related subject.
  • Eight to ten years electrical transmission/distribution line and substation experience with two to four years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Some level of Business Management course work recommended.
  • Thorough knowledge and familiarity with principles and practices of electric power line construction, maintenance, and substations required.
  • Strong verbal communication skills necessary in order to deal with a wide range of personalities both inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to make informed immediate decisions in emergency or highly stressful situations.
  • A valid Indiana driver's license and CDL required.
  • First aid and CPR certifications required
