Learning Content Designers often work with subject matter experts, use digital tools, and tailor materials for specific audiences or platforms. Their goal is to make learning effective, accessible, and enjoyable.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and versatile Learning & Development Partner to join our L&D team. This is a broad role designed for someone who can operate across the full spectrum of L&D work - from designing engaging learning experiences to consulting with senior stakeholders and partnering with the business to build lasting capability.

This position requires someone who is equally comfortable advising on a learning strategy, facilitating a leadership workshop, and building a self-paced digital course. You will act as both a practitioner and a trusted partner - bringing a consultative mindset to every engagement.

Our ideal candidate is passionate about learning and development and Morningstar's company objectives. Candidates who will excel in this role possess excellent organizational skills and an ability to interact with and motivate team members across a diverse and complex organization.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Consult with business units to diagnose capability gaps, run need analyses, and recommend learning solutions - not just respond to requests

  • Build working relationships with senior stakeholders, HR Business Partners, and Talent Management colleagues

  • Design and build learning experiences across formats: self-paced digital, instructor-led, blended, and in-flow resources

  • Translate business and learner needs into clear objectives, then design solutions that address them

  • Produce storyboards, scripts, facilitator guides, and participant materials

  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions for varied audiences, in-person and virtually

  • Partner with subject matter experts and external facilitators to co-design and deliver programs

  • Manage program logistics, communications, and participant experience end-to-end

  • Run multiple concurrent L&D projects with clear timelines and regular stakeholder updates

  • Ensure all learning content reflects Morningstar's values and culture

WHAT YOU BRING

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in learning & development across design, delivery, and stakeholder engagement

  • Experience working as an internal L&D consultant: conducting needs analyses, managing expectations, and recommending solutions independently

  • Facilitation skills, in-person and virtual, across a range of audience levels

  • Experience designing and building both eLearning and live training programs

  • Clear communication skills - able to engage at all levels, including with senior leaders

  • Project management skills: able to manage priorities and communicate progress

  • Familiarity with an LMS; Cornerstone OnDemand experience preferred

  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theory

  • Proficiency in MS Office and virtual delivery platforms (Teams/Zoom or equivalent)

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience

Preferred

  • Experience in a global or matrixed organization

  • Familiarity with AI-powered learning tools and emerging L&D technology

  • Background in financial services or a similarly data-driven environment
