Leadership Internships information

What are leadership internships?

Leadership internships are structured work experiences designed to help students or early-career professionals develop essential leadership skills in a real-world setting. These programs often involve working on projects, collaborating with teams, and receiving mentorship from experienced leaders. Participants are given opportunities to build skills such as communication, problem-solving, and decision-making. Leadership internships can be found in many industries and are valuable for building a strong foundation for future management or supervisory roles.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect during a leadership internship?

As a leadership intern, you can expect to be involved in a variety of projects that develop your management and decision-making skills. Typical responsibilities may include assisting with team coordination, leading small group initiatives, supporting project planning, and participating in meetings with senior leaders. You'll often be given the chance to contribute ideas, analyze business challenges, and present findings to stakeholders. This hands-on experience is designed to help you build confidence and prepare for future leadership roles within the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a leadership intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Leadership Intern, you need foundational knowledge in management principles, organizational behavior, and typically be enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant degree program. Familiarity with project management tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and sometimes collaboration platforms like Slack or Trello is often expected. Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and adaptability set standout candidates apart in this role. These skills are crucial for learning from mentors, managing projects effectively, and contributing positively to team goals during the internship.

What is the difference between Leadership Internships vs Project Management Internships?

Project Management Internships emphasize supporting project planning, coordination, and execution. While both roles require similar educational backgrounds, Leadership Internships are more centered on leadership development, whereas Project Management Internships are task-specific, supporting project goals.

Position Overview

This role is ideal for a driven, relationship-focused professional who thrives on autonomy and delivering exceptional service — whether you’re an experienced outside sales pro with a construction or building materials background, or a recent college grad ready to launch a career in sales.

This is not a door-to-door or residential cold-knocking role. As a Sales Consultant, you’ll be the face of Soniq Windows & Doors within the trade — building lasting relationships with builders, architects, and designers, and guiding them through our premium window and door solutions from initial contact through installation. New grads receive hands-on mentorship and a structured ramp-up plan to quickly build trade knowledge and a confident client-facing presence.

Key Responsibilities

Territory Ownership: Build and grow a strong base of builder, architect, and designer partners, consistently generating qualified leads and new business opportunities.

Trade Relationship Building: Meet with builders, architects, and design firms to understand project needs, provide product expertise, and present tailored solutions.

Proposal & Quote Development: Work closely with internal teams to deliver accurate, polished proposals aligned with project requirements.

Relationship Management: Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the entire sales cycle, ensuring partners receive top-tier service from first meeting through post-installation follow-up.

Market Intelligence: Stay current on industry trends, competitor offerings, and local market dynamics to position Soniq as the premier choice among trade professionals.

Sales Performance: Meet and exceed monthly and annual sales goals while maintaining a strong, organized pipeline.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of outside sales experience (ideally in construction, building materials, or related industries); we welcome both recent grads and seasoned sales professionals.

• For experienced candidates: demonstrated success managing a sales territory and developing long-term relationships with trade partners. For recent grads: a track record of initiative, relationship-building, or leadership (internships, campus involvement, athletics, etc.) that shows you can build trust quickly.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to simplify technical information.

• Self-motivated, results-oriented, and driven to exceed targets.

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Why Join Soniq Windows & Doors

High Earning Potential: Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission, with top performers averaging $150k+ in their first year.

Industry-Leading Products: Represent a disruptive, premium window and door manufacturer known for quality and innovation — check out our work at soniqwindows.com and soniq.windows on IG.

Training & Support: Comprehensive onboarding, product training, and ongoing sales support — plus dedicated mentorship for new grads — to help you quickly ramp up in a new market.

Growth Opportunity: Significant room for career and income growth, with a clear path from new hire to top performer.

Collaborative Culture: Work with a supportive, forward-thinking team that values initiative, integrity, and results.
