About this Position

Responsible for the administrative and employee management functions of the Physiological Sciences department within the College of Veterinary Medicine. 

Employee management oversight includes recruitment/hiring, preparation of necessary payroll documents, review/entry of timesheets/leave reports, review/audit payroll reports to ensure accuracy. Monitors and documents employee training/performance reviews. Assists department head with Salary Planner annually. Compiles and analyzes information for reports on research, teaching and service. Maintains graduate course files and distribute and collect student course evaluations each semester.

Responsible for preparation of departmental travel requests and requisitions, including travel arrangements for visitors to the department.

Supervises Sr. Financial Assistant and oversees financial functions for the department, including approving purchases.

Assists department head as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Seven years of experience.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

  • Completion of Ambassador Program or comparable program.

Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills in order to interact professionally with all levels of administration. Must be self-motivated and well organized. Capable of independent judgement, decision making, and performing with minimal oversight or supervision. MS Office experience. Confidentiality required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's
  • Ten years of related experience; OR Bachelor's degree with five years related experience. Preferably experience in university, medical, or veterinary environment. Must have supervisory skills.

Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

  • Completion of the Leadership Development program or comparable program.
