Job Description RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Lead Structural Engineer in Houston, TX. This is a full-time direct-hire Office Based assignment with our client (flexible hours). This position offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation and holidays.

Overview of YOUR role as a Lead Structural Engineer As a Lead Structural Engineer, you will oversee and manage the Civil and Structural Engineering teams on a wide variety of industrial projects. The ideal candidate will bring 10-20 years of experience focused on petrochemical and industrial projects, with strong leadership capabilities and technical expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously. This position requires a deep understanding of civil/structural engineering principles, team leadership, and project execution from concept to completion.

You'll be responsible for driving high-quality deliverables, managing budgets and schedules, mentoring junior engineers, and coordinating with other disciplines to meet client needs. As a Lead Structural Engineer YOU will: Serve as discipline lead for structural engineering across small and medium industrial projects Oversee civil/structural design and deliverables, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with codes and standards Review and approve all civil/structural calculations, specifications, and drawings Develop and validate service and construction estimates; track progress and changes throughout the project lifecycle Lead the development of design criteria based on client requirements, scope, and applicable codes and permitting standards Plan, organize, and manage the work of engineers and designers; assign tasks based on technical strengths and provide quality oversight Perform technical design work including equipment foundations, supports, access platforms, pipe racks, etc. Develop structural designs with an emphasis on constructability, safety, and material efficiency Produce and review structural engineering packages and manage construction documentation Check structural work done by others to ensure accuracy and code compliance Coordinate closely with other engineering disciplines and vendors to align design efforts Lead or contribute to proposals and development of project estimates and staffing plans Support procurement by preparing bid packages and reviewing vendor submittals for structural requirements Participate in the standardization of structural engineering processes and templates across the team Develop conceptual layouts, preliminary designs, and cost studies to identify efficient project solutions Lead performance tracking for schedule, quality, and budget goals; utilize project tools for reporting and planning Ensure timely identification and communication of scope changes and assist with initiating change orders as needed Guide interoffice and virtual team coordination; delegate and manage workshare packages across locations Contribute to the professional development of the team by supporting training, mentoring, and continuous improvement Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and collaborate with plant personnel to define project scope and expectations YOU are the ideal Lead Structural Engineer candidate if you have: Professional Engineering (PE) license (required) 10+ years of civil/structural engineering experience in industrial settings STAAD / STAAD.Pro experience (required) Small project experience (required) Proven track record in leading small and medium budget and multi-project portfolios Expertise in construction materials, estimating, structural detailing, and specification writing Proficient in producing engineering calculations and documents from vendor drawings and translating into construction-ready deliverables Strong project management skills, including budget control and schedule tracking Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain client relationships and present ideas clearly Experience leading cross-functional teams and working in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment Experience conducting site visits and collaborating with plant personnel It's a BONUS if you have: Possession of an active TWIC card Experience with rail/truck loading/unloading areas and scale design Experience with public works projects, particularly wastewater structures such as aeration tanks, digesters, and clarifiers Experience in petrochemical and industrial projects Advanced structural analysis software experience Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering About Our CLIENT Our client focuses on delivering high-quality engineered plans and details for industrial projects
