Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in the Core Banking Modernization - Enterprise Product & Pricing (EPPM) space. Learn more about the career areas and business divisions at wellsfargojobs.com.

The Lead Software Engineer will contribute strong technical expertise to a large-scale Core Banking Modernization initiative. This hands-on role is responsible for designing, developing, and testing cloud-native, microservices-based solutions that deliver high performance, resiliency, and operational excellence. The Lead Software Engineer collaborates closely with engineering teams and vendor partners to implement modern architectural patterns, solve technical challenges, and ensure the successful delivery of a next-generation core banking platform. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering skills with the ability to lead technical efforts, mentor team members, and drive high-quality solutions from design through production deployment.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact

  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs

  • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors

  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives

  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals

  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 5+ years of Java/J2EE and Spring Framework experience delivering software using CI/CD pipeline

  • 5+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using open-source technologies such as Microservices and Rest API's

  • 5+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using modern database technologies such as MongoDB

  • 3+ years of experience with Event Drive Messaging technologies including IBM MQ or Apache Kafka

  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud technologies including Azure, Open Shift, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes or Docker

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or engineering

  • Experience with Agile Scrum (Daily Standup, Sprint Planning and Sprint Retrospective meetings) and/or Kanban

  • Familiarity with Event driven architecture

  • 3 + years of experience supporting enterprise level core banking platform applications at scale in production

  • 3+ years working with configuration and monitoring technologies such as Ansible, Grafana, Elastic, Splunk, Prometheus, Github, Maven

  • 2+ years working with AI tools and agents like Devin, Copilot, Claude, Gemini

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$119,000.00 - $187,000.00
