  • Take ownership of assigned design packages and ensure quality, completeness, and alignment with project requirements
  • Prepare and review engineering documents, including design criteria, technical specifications, reports, and drawing lists
  • Review vendor drawings and technical submissions to ensure compliance with project specifications and design intent
  • Provide engineering support during construction, including responding to RFIs, issuing technical clarifications, and participating in field reviews
  • Participate in and contribute to client meetings, design reviews, and constructability assessments
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil/structural, protection & control, telecom etc.) to ensure integrated and coordinated designs
  • Support project delivery by managing assigned tasks within scope, schedule, and budget constraints
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior EITs and designers, including reviewing work and sharing technical knowledge
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement processes
  • Ensure applicable safety standards, codes, and best practices are integrated into all designs
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or eligible for / working toward P.Eng. designation with EGBC
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in transmission & distribution or substation design
  • Demonstrated experience in substation design, including layouts, grounding, and bus design; BC Hydro or utility project experience is an asset
  • Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards (Canadian Electrical Code, IEEE, IEC, CSA, OH&S)
  • Working knowledge of engineering tools such as AutoCAD, CYMCAP, CDEGS, WINIGS, ETAP, or similar; experience applying these tools in project settings
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop practical, technically sound solutions
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with internal teams, clients, and vendors
