Overview

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for leading cross-functional engineering teams through complex product development cycles? We're looking for an experienced Project Manager (Engineering) to lead projects across hardware and software initiatives at Shure, a world class leader in audio products.

In your role as Project Manager, you'll lead projects from concept to completion, ensuring seamless execution and collaboration. If you're ready to make a measurable impact in a fast-paced engineering environment, we want to hear from you.

This position is hybrid (3 days per week on-site), and based in our Niles, IL location. 

Responsibilities
  • Lead upfront work and collaborate closely with all departments to get new concepts and projects approved, planned, staffed, and set up for success.
  • Lead and drive development, planning, and closure of all efforts involved in project execution, including both internal and external dependencies.
  • Assess and monitor risk in key areas including project budgets, schedules, product costs, and quality/functionality while communicating risks/issues to the Project Team and Project Stakeholders. Negotiate and guide decisions towards budget and schedule adherence.
  • Assure team complies with the new product development process and report progress to project governance bodies via regularly distributed status reports and collateral.
  • Negotiate and maintain relationships with outside partners in collaboration with Supply Chain Associates, including outside design firms, co-development partners, and vendors in order to achieve project goals.
  • Review all project activities at the end of a project, compile lessons learned, assess project adherence to targets, and suggest improvements for the revision of the new product development process.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, Engineering preferred
  • PMI PMP certification or PDMA NPDP certification preferred
  • Experience
    • Minimum 6 years of experience in new product implementation
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience leading teams in a direct report or dotted/matrix environment.
    • Proven expertise working with both in-house and OEM/ODM/JDM projects.
    • Product development experience in and understanding of wireless systems and technologies preferred.
  • Technical skills
    • Strong Negotiation skills to influence changes to project scope and targets as necessary.
    • Able to exhibit leadership in situations without formal authority.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead Project Teams through motivation, influence, and coaching of Team Members
    • Able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, building relationships with Stakeholders and Project Team Members that enable Project Manager leadership.
    • Ability to leverage knowledge of organizational roles and responsibilities to guide activities.
    • Desire to continuously maintain knowledge of key disciplines (e.g., electrical, mechanical, acoustical, and software engineering; marketing; operations and quality) that allow for effective leadership of cross-functional Teams.
    • Experience designing, leading, piloting, or implementing alternative project management techniques such as Critical Chain or Lean / Agile development.

Base salaries vary based on qualifications, geography, experience, and expertise in each respective discipline. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base salary for the opportunity. The base salary for this position ranges from $128,100 to $217,800 with a midpoint target.  This position may also be eligible for our incentive pay program, which varies based on individual and Company performance in the year. If your salary expectations do not align, still apply as we are often flexible on the seniority of posted positions. All positions also include an award-winning benefits package.
