About BearCom

BearCom is North America's largest solutions provider and integrator of wireless voice and data communications equipment. With more than 75 branch locations and a robust nationwide service network, BearCom delivers mission-critical solutions including LMR two-way radio systems, Motorola DMR (CapMAX/LCP), DAS/BDA ERCES Public Safety systems, video surveillance, access control, and private LTE to enterprise clients, public safety agencies, education, healthcare, utilities, industrial, and transportation customers. BearCom partners with industry leaders such as Motorola, Avigilon, Milestone, and LenelS2, serving over 20,000 customers across 40+ end markets.

Position Overview
BearCom's Enterprise Travel Service Team is a dedicated field deployment unit supporting enterprise-level customers across multi-story office buildings, data centers, and shipping/production facilities. As an LMR Field Service Technician, you are the technical specialist responsible for testing, commissioning, and supporting Motorola DMR Critical Communication systems (including LCP and CapMAX platforms) and Public Safety DAS/BDA ERCES systems at enterprise customer sites. You will thrive working in a highly collaborative field environment, partnering closely with installation crew members and field management to deliver mission-critical systems that enterprise customers depend on every day. This is a travel-intensive hourly role requiring 80% regional travel with occasional national deployment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Motorola DMR Systems: Install, configure, test, and commission Motorola DMR infrastructure including CapMAX base stations, LCP trunked systems, and associated network components.
  • DAS/BDA ERCES: Support installation and testing of Public Safety DAS, BDA, and ERCES systems per NFPA 1221 and local AHJ requirements.
  • System Commissioning: Perform FATP, RF coverage verification, and end-to-end system validation prior to customer handoff.
  • Codeplug Programming: Create and manage Motorola DMR codeplugs, templates, and subscriber programming for enterprise radio fleets.
  • Field Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with LMR infrastructure, RF distribution, antenna systems, and network integration components.
  • Team Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with installation crew members and field management, sharing knowledge and supporting team objectives to ensure every project is completed to the highest standard.
  • Customer Interface: Serve as the technical point of contact on-site; communicate system status, test results, and commissioning milestones clearly and professionally.
  • Documentation: Produce accurate as-built records, test reports, commissioning checklists, and compliance documentation.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to OSHA standards, site-specific safety requirements, and BearCom safety protocols at all times.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of LMR field service experience with hands-on Motorola DMR system experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience with Motorola CapMAX and/or LCP trunked systems strongly preferred.
  • Experience with DAS/BDA/ERCES Public Safety systems installation and testing.
  • Proficiency in Motorola Radio Management (RM) and ASTRO 25/MOTOTRBO programming tools.
  • Understanding of RF propagation, antenna systems, and signal measurement.
  • Ability to read and interpret RF system drawings, schematics, and installation plans.
  • FCC GROL preferred or willingness to obtain; OSHA 10 required, OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with clean MVR; must pass background check and drug screening.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A genuine team player - someone who brings energy, accountability, and a collaborative mindset to every job site

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on ladders, lifts, and elevated structures.
  • Comfortable working in various environments including server rooms, equipment closets, rooftops, and construction sites.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Capable of working in varying weather and temperature conditions

Travel & Location
This role requires approximately 80% travel, primarily within an assigned region with national travel as project needs require. Candidates must reside within reasonable proximity to a major commercial airport hub to support rapid regional and national deployment. If relocation is required, a relocation package can be negotiated. BearCom supports its travel professionals with an elevated per diem, generous paid time off, and incentive-driven compensation that rewards your expertise, reliability, and commitment to the team.

Why BearCom?

  • Highly competitive hourly wage - we pay above market to attract the best in the field.
  • Quarterly performance bonus - earn additional compensation based on project quality, customer satisfaction, and team contributions.
  • Generous travel per diem - elevated well above standard rates so you're never out of pocket on the road
