Job description

Concrete Finisher

Under general supervision, the concrete finisher works with the jobsite team to smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete structures to specified textures.

Responsibilities

  • Complies with all applicable standards, policies and procedures, including safety procedures in the performance of assigned tasks.

  • Facilitates the pouring of the concrete by positioning delivery truck.

  • Moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms.

  • Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms with rake or shovel.

  • Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, with hand held screed and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping.

  • Smoothes and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete.

  • Finishes concrete surfaces, or wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish.

  • Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.

  • Molds expansion joints and edges.

  • Sprinkles colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish.

  • Produces rough concrete surface with broom.

  • Mixes cement with hoe or concrete-mixing machine.

  • Directs sub-grade work, mixing of concrete and setting of forms.

  • Breaks up and repairs old concrete surfaces.

  • Builds and lays out forms as required according to specifications with the ability to make calculations depending on grades.

  • Fills forms with fill material and compacts with tamper or compactor to bring to required grade.

  • Ties and fabricates rebar for vertical as well as below grade concrete structures.
     
  • Cleans work site of any tools, debris and equipment.

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of concrete or skilled labor experience preferred
     
  • Knowledge of standard construction equipment and materials
     
  • Ability to lift 50-100 pounds
     
  • Reliable transportation to and from the jobsite
