Job description

Tri-City Group is currently seeking a Construction Service Planner for Davenport, IA. The Construction Services Planner is responsible for planning, layout, and constructability support for multi-trade construction projects, with a strong focus on field efficiency, prefabrication readiness, and installation optimization. This role serves as a technical liaison between Construction Services, Project Management, Prefabrication, BIM/CAD, and Field Operations to ensure projects are planned and executed using the most efficient methods, materials, and workflows. The Construction Services Planner translates construction documents into clear, buildable layouts, identifies opportunities for prefabrication and labor savings, and supports the field through proactive planning, constructability review, and continuous improvement.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop job-specific construction layouts to support efficient installation and sequencing across trades
  • Create and maintain construction services drawings (including temporary power, lighting, underground, overhead, and rough-in layouts) using CAD-based tools
  • Assist with jobsite layout as required in coordination with the Director of Construction Services and field leadership
  • Identify opportunities for prefabrication based on project scope, schedule, and labor strategy
  • Support the prefabrication teams by providing accurate layouts, material requirements, and installation intent
  • Collaborate with prefabrication teams to ensure designs are buildable, standardized where possible, and aligned with field installation methods
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to prefabrication and field workflows
  • Serve as a technical resource to field leadership, foreman, and project manager on installation methods and constructability
  • Identify print errors, conflicts, or deficiencies and communicate findings to project management and field leadership for resolution
  • Assist with training and knowledge transfer related to new tools, methods, and prefabricated assemblies
  • Determine appropriate materials and installation approaches based on job specifications and project requirements
  • Stay current on emerging construction technologies, tools, materials, and installation techniques
  • Participating in trade shows, training and industry events as required to support continuous improvement
  • Help establish and document best practices for repetitive work and standardized construction assemblies
  • Collaborate with project management, estimating, BIM/CAD, prefabrication, warehouse, purchasing, safety, and field operations to ensure coordinated execution
  • Support construction services initiatives and assist the broader team as business needs require
