Job description

Ready to turn your mechanical skills into a career at LAX? Balanced Diversity is hiring a General Maintenance Worker / Junior Technician to support baggage handling and airport equipment operations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

This is a strong opportunity for someone who is mechanically inclined, enjoys hands-on work, and wants to build experience working with conveyor systems, baggage handling equipment, and other airport machinery.


As a Junior Technician, you’ll work alongside experienced technicians and help keep critical airport systems running. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting technicians with repairs and maintenance of baggage handling systems and related equipment
  • Monitoring baggage handling systems from the control room
  • Responding to jams, faults, and equipment trouble calls
  • Running bags and clearing baggage system issues
  • Assisting with supervised repairs and other maintenance activities
  • Supporting day-to-day airport operations as needed

The role is designed to provide exposure to both basic and semi-skilled maintenance work while supporting experienced technicians.

This is a full-time role supporting a 24/7 airport operation, with three shifts available. Candidates must be flexible to work nights, weekends, overtime, and holidays as operational needs require.

Airport & Position Requirements

Candidates must:

  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Be able to obtain and maintain an Airport ID Badge, airport driving permit, and CBP Security Seal
  • Successfully complete required airport training and security checks
  • Follow applicable company, OSHA, and FAA safety and security requirements
  • Provide their own basic set of tools
  • Be physically capable of performing an active maintenance role, including lifting and moving equipment and materials


This is not a desk job. You’ll work in secured baggage handling areas, repair stations, airfield environments, and other areas of the airport. The environment can include moving mechanical equipment, aircraft noise, vibration, and changing weather conditions. Airport operations move quickly, so the ability to solve problems and respond effectively under pressure is important.
