WELDER / HVAC TECHNICIAN
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) | Los Angeles, CA
Pay Rate: $40.71/hour
6-Month Contract | Potential Contract-to-Hire
Full-Time | 40 Hours/Week

KEEP CRITICAL AIRPORT SYSTEMS RUNNING

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to support facility and equipment operations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

This is a hands-on position responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing HVAC systems along with associated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment. The role is well suited for an experienced commercial HVAC professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment and performing maintenance work directly on the airport ramp/tarmac.

This is a 6-month contract opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent position based on performance and business needs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize commercial HVAC systems and related equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Diagnose and service motors, pumps, compressors, ductwork, controls, and other HVAC components.
  • Perform brazing, soldering, welding, pipefitting, and fabrication as required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Identify equipment issues and complete repairs to minimize operational downtime.
  • Work safely around aircraft, vehicles, baggage systems, and heavy equipment.
  • Complete required maintenance activities in accordance with company procedures and safety standards.
  • Follow all airport security, safety, and training requirements.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of commercial HVAC, electrical maintenance, or repair experience
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing HVAC and mechanical systems
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required airport security clearance/badging
  • Ability to work day or night shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in active airport ramp/tarmac environments
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in confined or limited-access spaces
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Previous airport, aviation, commercial facility, or industrial maintenance experience
  • Experience with Johnson Controls systems
  • Strong ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Experience with brazing, soldering, welding, and pipefitting
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with common software applications
WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position involves working in an active airport operations environment, including directly on the LAX ramp/tarmac around aircraft and heavy equipment.
Technicians may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical equipment, elevated noise levels, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, chemicals, and varying temperatures. Work may also be performed in confined areas near baggage conveyor systems.
