Job description

Forensic Crash Investigator (Law Enforcement Focused) – Take Your Investigative Skills Further

We are seeking current or former law enforcement professionals to apply their crash investigation and scene analysis experience in a forensic setting. In this role, you will reconstruct motor vehicle collisions for civil and criminal cases, turning physical evidence into clear, defensible conclusions that stand up in court.

This position builds on what you already do—scene documentation, evidence analysis, and reporting—while expanding your impact through advanced forensic tools and engineering-based reconstruction.

This is not a desk-only role. You’ll move between field investigations, technical analysis, and courtroom environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Investigate collision scenes and vehicles while documenting physical evidence in real-world environments.
  • Apply accident reconstruction principles to investigative findings to reconstruct motor vehicle accidents.
  • Utilize tools such as GPS surveying, drone mapping, and 3D scanning technology.
  • Analyze data and develop clear, defensible conclusions.
  • Produce detailed technical reports and visual exhibits.
  • Collaborate with legal, insurance, government, and military stakeholders.
  • Provide professional support in litigation, including courtroom environments when needed.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Leverage your experience – Build directly on your law enforcement investigation background
  • Stay in the field – Continue hands-on investigative work without patrol demands
  • Advanced training provided – Gain expertise in crash reconstruction and forensic technology
  • Career longevity – Transition into a specialized role with long-term growth potential
  • Meaningful impact – Your findings influence legal outcomes and case resolution

What We’re Looking For

  • Background in law enforcement, crash investigation, or traffic homicide units preferred
  • Strong investigative instincts and attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze scenes, interpret evidence, and think critically under pressure
  • Professional report writing and communication skills
  • High integrity, discretion, and courtroom professionalism
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

Technical Skills (Preferred)

  • Experience with CAD software and Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with:
    • Electronic surveying and GPS systems
    • Drone operations and aerial mapping
    • 3D scanning and photogrammetry
  • Basic understanding of vehicle mechanical systems
  • Experience in engineering, law enforcement, or military environments is a plus

Work Environment

  • Mix of office, field, and courtroom settings
  • Fieldwork may involve outdoor conditions and active investigation scenes
  • Must be capable of lifting and transporting up to 50 lbs of equipment

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass background, credit, and drug screening
  • Minimum of four professional references

Compensation & Benefits

  • Three-month introductory period
  • Health insurance reimbursement
  • Simple IRA retirement plan
  • Paid leave and holidays
  • Uniform allowance
  • Paid Training/Certifications
  • Clear advancement opportunities including becoming an expert in Accident Reconstruction

Who This Role Is Ideal For

Law enforcement professionals - especially those with traffic, crash, or investigative experience - who want to continue meaningful investigative work in a new capacity. This role offers a path to stay in the field, use your expertise, and build a specialized career without the demands of traditional policing.
