Job description

Description
The Department of Classics at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor specializing in Latin Literature broadly conceived. The position will begin on August 1, 2027.
Applicants should be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Latin Language and literature, and to offer courses in classical civilization and culture in translation. The teaching load is two courses per semester. Other duties will include mentoring undergraduate and MA graduate students, and contributing to the administrative activities of the Department and the University.
We welcome applications from candidates who will contribute to the intellectual life of the Department and the University, and exhibit interdisciplinary interests broadly conceived.

Qualifications
Candidates at the entry level must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. degree or have completed all but dissertation in Latin Literature or a closely related field with successful dissertation defense by 08/01/2027. Candidates at the advanced level must have a Ph.D. in Latin Literature or a closely related field.
