Brief Job Overview

This role is critical to advancing USPโ€™s mission of protecting patient safety and improving global health by ensuring strong regional execution, trusted partnerships, and sustainable growth throughout Latin America.

The Regional Manager & Sr. Director, Latin America (LATAM) is responsible for strategic leadership, operational execution, and sustainable growth of USPโ€™s mission, programs, and commercial activities across Latin America. This role serves as USPโ€™s senior regional executive, accountable for strengthening USPโ€™s public health impact, regulatory engagement, stakeholder relationships, and financial performance in a diverse and highly regulated environment.

The RM & Sr. Director LATAM will lead multidisciplinary teams across Scientific Programs, Strategic Customers Development, External Affairs, Marketing and Operations, while ensuring full alignment with USPโ€™s global strategy, values, and quality standards.

Location: This is a Remote role available in the the following U.S. States: MD, VA, DC, PA, WV, CA, MI ,IL, KS, FL, NC, MN, or NH.

The RM & Sr. Director LATAM has the following responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute USPโ€™s regional strategy for Latin America, aligned with global priorities and public health objectives.
  • Identify growth opportunities for standards adoption, reference materials, training programs, and partnerships.
  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to global leadership on regional risks, opportunities, and policy developments.
  • Public Health & Regulatory Engagement
  • Lead high-level engagement with health authorities, regulators, ministries of health, trade associations, academy, and public institutions across LATAM.
  • Strengthen USPโ€™s role as a trusted scientific and regulatory partner, supporting medicine quality, supply chain integrity, and patient safety.
  • Represent USP in regional and international forums, technical committees, and policy discussions.

Business & Financial Management

  • Own revenue growth, cost control, and financial sustainability responsibilities for the LATAM region.
  • Drive development and execution of commercial strategies, business models, and channel access approaches consistent with USPโ€™s non-profit mission.
  • Ensure strong forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking and measures.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee regional operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, quality systems, risk management, and internal controls.
  • Ensure effective coordination across scientific, commercial, and operational teams.
  • Lead crisis management and issue resolution in complex regulatory or geopolitical environments.

People Leadership & Culture

  • Build, lead, and develop high-performing, diverse, and inclusive teams across multiple countries.
  • Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, collaboration, and scientific excellence.
  • Ensure talent development, succession planning, and organizational scalability.

Partnerships & External Relations

  • Develop strategic partnerships and collaboration with Regulatory Agencies, Pharma Industry, Academia, Trade Associations, Key Stakeholders and Convention Members.
  • Support fundraising, grants, and donor-funded initiatives aligned with USPโ€™s mission when applicable.
  • Serve as USPโ€™s senior spokesperson in the region, enhancing brand reputation and trust.

Who is USP Looking For?

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:

Required

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Public Health, Business, or related field (MBA or PhD preferred).
  • Minimum 15+ years of progressive leadership experience, including senior management responsibility in Latin America.
  • Demonstrated experience in regulated environments (pharmaceuticals, healthcare, life sciences, or public health).
  • Proven P&L management and experience leading complex, multi-country operations.
  • Deep understanding of LATAM regulatory frameworks, health systems, and market dynamics.
  • Fluency in Portuguese, English and Advanced Spanish required.

Preferred

  • Experience in non-profit, standards-setting, regulatory, pharmaceutical market, or mission-driven organizations.
  • Established network with regional health authorities and international organizations.
  • Track record of public-private partnerships and donor-funded programs.

Compensation

Base Salary Range: USD $212,500 - $270,175 annually.

Target Annual Bonus: % Varies based on level of role.
