Company Overview

Ameritex Machine and Fabrication is a high mix low volume sheet metal and structural fabrication facility that uses a variety of equipment such as CNC Fiber Lasers, CNC punch presses, CNC press brakes, and tube lasers to support over 19 production and assembly lines. The company serves customers in energy, oil and gas, automotive, electric vehicle, and aerospace. We operate out of a state of the art 100,000 sqft facility in Conroe, Texas.
Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Press Brake Operator to join our growing team at Ameritex. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating LVD Press Brake machines to bend, form, and fabricate sheet metal and plate components according to specifications. This position requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality. Training on Ameritex-specific systems and procedures will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation & Production

  • Set up and operate Press Brake machines in accordance with engineering drawings and work orders.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling, punches, and dies for each job.
  • Perform machine programming and adjust parameters such as bend sequence, pressure, and back gauge positions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and part specifications to ensure precise bends and tolerances.
  • Conduct first-article inspections and verify bend angles and dimensions during production.
  • Handle materials safely, including loading and unloading sheets or plates using hoists or lifting equipment.
  • Optimize bending sequences and minimize material waste through efficient setup and production planning.

Quality Assurance

  • Inspect parts using measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and templates to ensure they meet required specifications.
  • Identify nonconforming parts or process deviations and take corrective actions immediately.
  • Record production data accurately for traceability and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and accuracy at all times.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on Press Brake machines, including cleaning machines, lubricating moving parts, and checking tooling condition.
  • Diagnose and correct minor mechanical or hydraulic issues; escalate complex problems to maintenance or supervision.
  • Report equipment malfunctions immediately to minimize downtime.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety protocols and always wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Comply with Ameritex’s policies and applicable standards, including ISO, OSHA, and ITAR regulations.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with production team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding production concerns, tooling needs, or material shortages.
  • Provide input for process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience operating a Press Brake, preferably LVD or similar equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and templates.
  • Knowledge of basic fabrication techniques and sheet metal properties.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.

Preferred:

  • Experience with LVD Press Brake machines and programming software.
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems for production tracking.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Basic understanding of sheet metal properties and fabrication processes.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods during the shift.
  • Must be able to safely lift, up to 50 pounds, regularly.
  • Comfortable working in a production environment with noise, heat, and physical activity.
  • Must pass all pre-employment drug and background screening
