Job description

Position Summary

The Laser Engraver produces accurate, attractive personalized products while delivering helpful customer service. This role consults with customers, prepares artwork and layouts, safely operates engraving equipment, inspects completed work, and maintains an organized production area within the Ace Hardware store.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Consult with customers to confirm product, wording, artwork, placement, size, finish, price, and completion date.
  • Create and adjust engraving layouts using approved design software, templates, fonts, and customer-supplied files.
  • Set up and safely operate laser engraving equipment according to manufacturer and store procedures.
  • Select appropriate settings for approved materials and perform test runs when needed before production.
  • Inspect finished products for spelling, alignment, clarity, finish quality, and adherence to the approved proof.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, customer approvals, production status, and completed-order records.
  • Clean and maintain the engraver, ventilation system, tools, fixtures, and production workspace.
  • Monitor engraving supplies and blank-product inventory and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Assist customers on the sales floor and support other store operations when engraving demand allows.
Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail, spelling, measurement, and visual alignment.
  • Comfort using computers, graphics software, and production equipment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Experience with laser engraving, graphic design, sign production, or personalized products preferred.
