Job description

Department: Customer Training
Reports to: Training Lab Supervisor or Training Lab Manager
Primary Function of Position:
The Lab Assistant assists with the coordination of orders and maintenance of inventory. The Training Lab Associate is responsible for cleaning and sterilization of equipment and supports the needs of Program Education and Professional Services.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Administrative
• Assist with the management of Da Vinci systems and supplemental equipment for training, education and special programs
• Assist with maintaining inventory of equipment and daVinci instruments and accessories
• Maintain laboratory records and filing system
• Assist with coordination of system allocation and bay assignments for trainers and veterinary staff
• Preparation and maintenance of cadaveric specimens
• Maintain specimen logs and responds to inquiries regarding general laboratory procedures
Technical
• Cleaning and sterilization of all instrumentation on a daily basis
• Set up instrument trays for all training sessions on day prior to training
• Organize, maintain and manage cleaning and sterilization area
• Troubleshoot laboratory equipment (daVinci surgical system, video equipment, electrosurgical units, etc.)
• Set up daVinci Surgical System for training
• Crate, ship and receive da Vinci systems and I&A for events inside and outside the Sunnyvale training lab.
Skill/Job Requirements:
Background requirements:
• Laboratory technician, or equivalent.
• 2-4 year’s experience in an animal research lab, hospital operating room or comparable work environment
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Familiarity with sterile protocol/OR attire
Background preferences:
• Familiarity with national/state regulatory criteria for animal care in lab facilities (IACUC, USDA, OLAW)
• Familiarity with surgical procedures and surgical training models
• Familiarity with daVinci systems and accessories
• Good knowledge of surgical/laboratory terminology, equipment, materials and procedures, as well as the fundamental laboratory methods relating to surgery
• Familiarity with sterile reprocessing of medical instrumentation
