Location: Rock Hill, SC

About the Opportunity

Our client, an established architectural signage manufacturer serving clients nationwide, is hiring an experienced Design Manager to lead its in-house design department in Rock Hill, SC.


This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone with strong sign-industry experience who understands how to take design work from initial concept through engineering, fabrication, and installation. The Design Manager will lead and develop a team of designers while strengthening design standards, improving workflow, and ensuring every project is accurate, buildable, and production ready.


The ideal candidate combines people leadership with a strong technical understanding of architectural signage, environmental graphics, fabrication methods, materials, mounting systems, and installation requirements.


What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Lead the Design Department, including team performance, workload planning, scheduling, quality, and accountability
  • Assign projects and balance department capacity to support deadlines and production priorities
  • Review drawings and design packages for accuracy, completeness, code considerations, buildability, and alignment with project scope
  • Ensure drawings include the necessary dimensions, materials, mounting details, fabrication requirements, and installation considerations
  • Establish and maintain design standards, quality-control processes, templates, file structures, and naming conventions
  • Identify design, engineering, production, or field conflicts before they affect project timelines
  • Partner closely with Sales, Project Management, Production, Engineering, and Installation throughout the project lifecycle
  • Manage outside engineering and design vendors while ensuring deliverables meet project requirements
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop design talent while building a collaborative and accountable team culture
  • Build trusted relationships with architects, developers, general contractors, and key clients


What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • 7+ years of design experience within architectural signage, environmental graphics, experiential graphics, or a related large-format production environment
  • Previous experience managing designers, assigning workloads, developing employees, and driving team accountability
  • Strong understanding of sign fabrication, materials, mounting methods, engineering requirements, and installation considerations
  • Experience reviewing technical drawings and preparing accurate, production-ready design documentation
  • Demonstrated success improving design standards, workflows, quality control, and overall department performance
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with production, engineering, project management, installation teams, and outside vendors
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong communication, organization, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work on-site in Rock Hill, SC
