Role Description The Technical Production Designer โ€“ Scenic & Custom Fabrication will support the design and execution of scenic elements, custom displays, and printed materials for client projects. This contract role is on-site in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area and involves creating technical production files, preparing artwork for print and fabrication, and ensuring all designs meet material, structural, and brand specifications. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with project managers and fabricators, refining graphics for large-format print, and translating creative concepts into production-ready layouts and build drawings. The role also includes troubleshooting production issues, reviewing proofs and samples, and maintaining clear documentation to ensure accurate and timely delivery of all scenic and custom fabrication projects.


Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess skills in Print Production and Production Design to prepare accurate, press-ready and fabrication-ready files.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Image Editing and Graphics to adjust artwork, optimize visual quality, and adapt designs for various formats.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Branding to maintain visual consistency and adhere to client brand guidelines across all deliverables.
  • Experience with industry-standard design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, vector and layout tools) and familiarity with large-format or specialty printing processes.
  • Strong technical drawing, layout, and file management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and specifications.
  • Ability to work on-site in a fabrication environment, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • Background in scenic design, custom fabrication, exhibit design, or related fields is beneficial; relevant education or equivalent professional experience is preferred.

  • Background in engineering, woodworking, industrial design, print production, signage, or fabrication preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills.
